Uma Reddy- a short interview

Ms. Uma Reddy is an Electrical Engineer running a SME – M/S Hitech Magnetics &
Electronics Pvt Ltd. A first generation technocrat entrepreneur, who started her career
while at college and now manufactures custom built transformers, coils, inductors etc
electronic sub assemblies for MNCs like GE, ABB, BARC, BHEL, BEL, TATAs etc. Her
company won the Performance Award as best supplier from GE Medical Systems, South
Asia in 2001, Kirloskar Best Supplier Award in 2005, ABB Safety award in 2008.

Uma won a National award for SSI Women Entrepreneurs for the year 2001. She has received the
Rajyotsava award in 2005 for her contribution to society.

She has presented many papers in entrepreneurship development both nationally and in
international forums at OECD, Paris, CIPE USA, CDG, Johannesburg, China, Spain, Germany,
Vietnam, Philippines, Cairo, Netherlands, USA, Canada etc and has been a resource person
for programs of APO, – Asian Productivity Organisation, Tokyo.

She has been a member of evaluation missions of UNDP and has organised many programs
and seminars for MSMEs and women entrepreneurship development in various capacities in all
the associations. Some of the key concepts brought about have been the virtual trade mission,
business directory of women entrepreneurs, e commerce as tools for enterprise growth, Asia
Pacific Convention for Entrepreneurial Women, Organised tech based seminars on Cloud
Computing for MSMEs, innovative e marketing tools exploring social media network etc
