Kamladevi was a legendary social reformer. She felt the urge of socio-economic upliftment during pre independence era. Our major skills, theatre, handicraft and handlooms were dying, she played a pivotal role in bringing back, the art of India which Indians were masters of. She deeply felt that skills those were the strength of Indian should be revived and this may uplift people financially. Her contribution during independence era cannot be missed. She is the first Indian woman who was inspired to run for the Madras Provincial Legislature assembly. She wanted to sell packets of salt at Bombay stock exchange. She was the first lady who was arrested at Bombay stock exchange. She was imprisoned for almost one year.
There are many such unsung heroes, they will always inspire us.
